White Rice Diabetes Risk Study Revealed

White Rice Diabetes Risk Study Revealed – According to a recent study, the consumption of white rice has been linked to the occurrence of type 2 diabetes. Researchers from Harvard University have revealed that the report, which was published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, shows conclusive evidence that white rice can be linked to type 2 diabetes. According to the study brown rice and other wholegrain foods are great because they release glucose gradually. This makes them a better choice for consumers than white rice, which releases glucose more rapidly.

In the study, people who ate five or more 150g servings of white rice per week had a 17 percent increased risk to develop diabetes at some time in their life. While those who ate whole grain rice or brown rice had less of a risk. This is good news for people who typically eat brown rice. White rice is known to cause a serious spike in blood sugar.

Eating whole grain rice or brown rice was actually found to decrease the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. People who eat two or more servings per week showed an 11% reduced risk compared to individuals who ate less than one serving of white rice per month.

The moral of the story? Eat whole grain foods that release glucose at a more natural pace. This will allow your body to deal with the glucose much easier.
